These socks are worked cuff to toe in a pattern using slipped stitches. Slipped stitch color work is magical because you can make cool colorwork patterns, but only have to juggle one yarn at a time!

You can make your Mosaic Marbles socks psychedelic by choosing highly contrasting colors – or even one variegated and one solid color. Or make them more reserved by choosing more complimentary colors like gray and black, for instance.

Make your Mosaic Marbles Socks identical or change the colors up, as was done in the photo.

Foot length and width are adjustable.

Mosaic Marbles Socks Pattern Tip

We typically recommend using  a wool/nylon blend yarn for socks. Typical sock yarns contain 10-25% nylon. The nylon adds strength and helps your socks to last longer. And wool is absolutely fantastic for socks – no matter what season you plan on wearing them!

That being said… for this pattern, you could use a wool/nylon blend for the color that you are using for your toes and heels (where socks wear out fastest) and a yarn without nylon for the other color. This assumes that you make your socks with matching toes & heels (not like the photo, where the socks and heels are opposite colors).

Some yarns that would be great for the Mosaic Marbles Socks are:
Mary Ann Sock (85% superwash merino wool, 15% nylon)
Malabrigo Sock (100% superwash merino wool – not for heels & toes; see note above)
Gems Fingering (100% machine washable merino wool – not for heels & toes; see note above)
