This fun little project bag is knit mostly in stockinette stitch and includes a lot of short rows. The repetitive nature of this pattern makes it the perfect project for learning how to do short rows.
The pattern is written for wrap and turn short rows, but our lessons will include instructions for 3 more short row techniques. Experiment with all 4 styles of short rows in this project and choose your favorite!
The kit includes 1 skein of Hinkston Handmade self striping yarn in either fingering or sport weight. You must purchase the $3 pattern at https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/traveling-knitters-yarn-pouch.
You will also need a 24″ circular needle, size US 2 or whatever size you normally use for knitting socks, and standard knitting notions. You can use a longer circular needle if you use the magic loop method of knitting in the round. (Magic loop instructions are included in the KAL lessons.)
Note: With fingering weight yarn, most English style knitters will use a size 1 or 2 for this project. Most Continental style knitters will use a size 0 or 1. If you choose the sport weight yarn, you could go up a needle size or 2.
This kit is exclusively for the participants of our August 2023 Yarn Retreat!
